About the Work
Commissioned for The Compline Choir by Paul Johns, Page Smith, and Jason Anderson , this Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis were premiered at Canterbury Cathedral in June of 2024. This service is uniquely scored for AATB Voices and Cello, showcasing the expansive range of the cello as it intricately intertwines with the melodic lines of the singers. Since this premiere, these canticles have been sung at various Evensong services around the U.S., including Grace Cathedral in San Francisco and St. Thomas Church Fifth Avenue in New York City.
